UNIVERSITIES AND ENGLISH DEPARTMENTS DESPERATELY NEED POETS, ARTISTS AND CREATIVE VISIONARIES
DURING THE FALL OF 1996, I WORKED AS A DOCENTS COORDINATOR AT THE NEW MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART IN NEW YORK CITY AND WROTE AN ETHNOGRAPHY OF THE NEW MUSEUM, NYC

COMPOSITION STUDIES AND INTERDISCIPLINARITY

WHAT IS SO WONDERFUL ABOUT COMPOSITION STUDIES IS THAT IT ALLOWS COMPOSITIONISTS AND UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS OF WRITING TO BE INTERDISCPLINARY AND TO INCORPORATE DIVERSE DISCIPLINES, I.E., THE HUMAN SCIENCES, COMMUNICATIONS, EDUCATION, THE ARTS, THE LIBERATORY SCIENCES, INTO THEIR TEACHING AND SCHOLARSHIP.  COMPOSITIONISTS WHO ARE INTERDISCPLINARY AND THAT IS THE VAST MAJORITY OF COMPOSITIONISTS,  ARE GENERALISTS -- NOT SPECIALISTS -- WHO EXPLORE THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN COMPOSITION PEDAGOGY AND THEORIES OF KNOWLEDGE FROM ACROSS THE SPECTRUM OF DISCIPLINES.  MORE ON THIS ON THIS HOLY, RIGHTEOUS, CREATIVE AND POETIC BLOG IN THE NEAR FUTURE. LOVE ALWAYS, DR DIANE K. OLSON
